Sender Policy Framework, or SPF, is a verification system, that is designed to prevent the so-called email spoofing where an email message can be sent from one e-mail address, but to seem as being sent from another one, generally with the idea to fraud the recipient for some reason. If SPF protection is activated for a domain name, an exclusive record is created for it in the Domain Name System and all the DNS servers around the world get it. The record includes all of the mail servers that are permitted to send valid messages from an address part of the domain. When a message is sent, the first DNS server it goes to checks the SPF record and if its sending server is permitted, the message is forwarded to the target receiver. If, however, the sending server is not included in the SPF record for the particular domain, the e-mail message won't be forwarded and it'll be removed. In case you employ this solution, it'll stop third parties from sending spam messages which appear to have been sent from you.

SPF Protection in Web Hosting

SPF protection can be activated for every domain hosted in a web hosting account on our cloud hosting platform with no more than a few clicks. The feature can be found in the Emails section of our state-of-the-art Hepsia Control Panel and all you need to activate it is to choose one of your domain names from the drop-down menu and enter the hostnames together with the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the email servers that will be permitted to send messages from your emails. As an added option you can even restrict the e-mails to be sent from your domain only if it has our MX records, in other words when our servers handle the emails for it, not a third-party supplier. This feature provides you with the best degree of safety, but it is not applicable when only your website is on our servers while the emails for the domain are handled elsewhere. Either way, the SPF protection service will keep your emails protected from being used for spam or scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

When you host your domain names in a semi-dedicated server account with us, you will be able to employ the SPF protection feature as a part of the conventional set of services that you will get using this kind of web hosting. Starting the protection will require just a couple of easy steps within the Hepsia Control Panel, so even if you've never used this type of function before, you will not have any problems. Through a very time and effort saving interface, you'll only have to type in the info of the mail server that will be permitted to send messages from your email addresses - its hostname (mail.server.com) and IP address (IPv4 or IPv6). Once the recently generated record propagates, no one will be able to counterfeit any e-mail address for that particular domain and send messages from a server different from the one you've entered. This does not necessarily have to be our mail server, but when we handle your emails, you'll be able to enable an additional level of protection by selecting an option that emails can be send from addresses @your-domain.com only in case the domain uses our MX records. Our technical support team can help you 24/7 if you have any kind of questions about this service.
