Introduced in 2001, the Dot NAME top-level domain extension is the single TLD planned for personal sites only. These domains can include personal or fictional names, aliases and/or other labels people are popular by. At the beginning, just third-level registrations were allowed, so if you desired to reserve john.doe.name, you were supposed to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration procedures were liberalized and second-level registrations were also allowed. Already taken 3rd-level domains remained functional.

You will be able to change the WHOIS information, to park your domain, to modify Custom DNS records, etc. You can also move over an already registered domain to our firm if you take its EPP transfer authorization key from the present domain registrar and we will renew it after the transfer has been finished. There are no particular regulations on who can secure a dot NAME domain, but in order to preserve the idea behind its creation alive, the Registry may verify who the Registrant is and if there is no link between the owner and the actual domain, the registration may be challenged.
